The horse, he sick

Dub-heavy doomstep blend of paranoid dubby madness - fresh & regular

John Foxx

I saw Foxx last night, it was totally fantastic. He gave a performance of his work 'Tiny Colour Movies' which I found particularly moving (its a very ambient series of compositions for super-8 home movies and other found footage -- extremely Ballardian). After that there he returned to the stage with his latter-day collaborator Louis Gordon and performed updated versions of his more familiar material (i.e. stuff from Metamatic & later material, and even at least one track from early Ultravox! material). Despite its slight updating (mostly in the low end) it was the icy electro synthpunk typical of what you'd expect of Foxx, only it puts the current rash of 20 year olds imitating this style in the charts to complete shame. Loud, clean and crisp sound system helped as well. Remarkably well-preserved for his age too. The only downside was the small crowd it drew to the Tivoli, anyone who claims to be a fan of electronic music, "electro" or any of it's thousand modern variations and who misses it without a good excuse is a complete pretentious dilettante who should never be taken seriously on the topic of electronic music ever again. Inspiring night all round.

Family-friendly cabaret act

I am developing ideas for a Retarded Mouse stage show as a "excessively sado-masochistic family-friendly disney cabaret" act. Think mini mouse wearing a cop uniform on a three day methampethamine binge humiliating mickey with a 18" black strap on and a truncheon.

Retarded Mouse already has three songs: Everybody Take Drugs, Eat Meat, and Get Fucked Up. Which gives you some idea of the lyrical content. Musically it slow-tempo acid, i.e. Drum machine & 303 driven at around 112 - 118 bpm with some Latin feel in the rhythm section. Transcom is releasing this material.

I need stage performers (vocalists, instrumentalists, 'dancers') and other helpers. Anyone interested? An interest in uniforms, rodents and/or leather pants may be desirable. Excessive body hair, flaccid white flesh, beer guts, morbid obesity, beards, scars, inappropriate tattoos, lack of discernible talent are all welcome. No actual full frontal nudity required. Unless you want and we won't all get arrested for it.

A friend said to me "sounds like you're only realising Walt Disney's nazi vision" which is somewhere in the ball park.
